The quarterfinals of the Colorado High School Activities Association’s 6A Boys Basketball State Championship took place Friday at the Denver Coliseum. Four teams advanced to the semifinals, which are scheduled for March 13.
In the first game, Davis May led No. 5 Rock Canyon with 20 points in a 66-52 win over No. 13 Grandview. The second matchup saw Aiden Perez score 20 points and Anthony Andrew collect 13 rebounds as No. 3 Rangeview defeated No. 6 Cherry Creek, 51-33. In the third game, Christian Williams scored 21 points to help No. 1 Chaparral secure a 65-45 victory against No. 8 Mountain Vista. The final quarterfinal was decided in the closing seconds when Zeke Andrews scored to complete his 17-point performance and give No. 2 Ralston Valley a narrow 54-53 win over No. 7 George Washington.
The semifinals will feature Chaparral facing Rock Canyon and Ralston Valley taking on Rangeview, both games set for March 13 at the Denver Coliseum. The championship game is scheduled for March 14.
Earlier rounds saw several notable results, including Chaparral defeating Brighton and Fairview in earlier matchups, while Ralston Valley overcame Regis Jesuit and Heritage to reach this stage of the tournament.
Other teams advancing through previous rounds included Cherry Creek, George Washington, Mountain Vista, Liberty, Fossil Ridge, ThunderRidge, Northfield, Arvada West, Valor Christian, Pueblo West, Centaurus, Doherty, Broomfield, Fairview, Heritage, and Erie.
