Denver Christian among teams advancing to Great 8 in CHSAA girls basketball tournament

The second round of the 2026 CHSAA 3A Girls Basketball State Tournament took place on Saturday, with all games hosted by the top eight seeds. The teams that won will move on to the Great 8, which is scheduled for Thursday at the University of Denver. The semifinals are set for Friday, and the championship game will be held on Saturday, March 14.

The matchups for the Great 8 are as follows: No. 1 Denver Christian will play No. 8 Roaring Fork; No. 2 Wiggins faces No. 7 Resurrection Christian; No. 3 Yuma goes against No. 6 Colorado Springs Christian; and No. 4 Centauri meets No. 5 Salida.

In Saturday’s second round, Denver Christian defeated Wray with a score of 60-42, while Wiggins overcame Monte Vista, winning 50-39. Yuma secured a victory over Cedaredge at 36-25, and Centauri beat Platte Valley by a margin of 42-18. Salida won against Meeker with a score of 56-49, Colorado Springs Christian edged out Buena Vista at 38-34, Resurrection Christian topped North Fork by a score of 49-35, and Roaring Fork defeated Thomas MacLaren School with a final tally of 69-56.

Results from Friday’s first round included wins for Denver Christian over Windsor Charter Academy (73-24), Wiggins over Platte Canyon (68-16), Yuma over Middle Park (50-16), Centauri over Liberty Common (61-20), Salida over SkyView Academy (55-30), Colorado Springs Christian over Gunnison (50-16), Resurrection Christian over Peyton (39-26), and Roaring Fork over Manual (74-46). Other first-round winners were Thomas MacLaren School, North Fork, Buena Vista, Meeker, Cedaredge, Wray, Monte Vista, and Platte Valley.

The tournament continues next week at the University of Denver as teams compete for a spot in the championship game.
