The second round of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) 6A Girls Basketball State Championship concluded on Saturday, with several close games and notable upsets.

Avery Jones scored a decisive 10-foot baseline jumper at the buzzer, giving No. 17 Eaglecrest a narrow 54-53 victory over No. 16 Ralston Valley. In other tightly contested matches, No. 14 Arvada West managed to edge out No. 19 Fruita Monument with a score of 46-43, while No. 5 Northfield outpaced No. 28 Smoky Hill in a high-scoring game that ended 91-83.

After the second round, the top fourteen seeds advanced to the round of sixteen, except for Eaglecrest and No. 18 Fort Collins—who defeated defending champion and No. 15 Grandview by a margin of 61-44—marking them as the only lower-seeded teams to move forward.

The third round is scheduled for Wednesday at home venues for each team. Following these games, quarterfinals will be held at the Denver Coliseum on Friday, March 6. The semifinals are set for Thursday, March 12, and championship games will take place on Saturday, March 14.

Second-round results from Saturday saw victories by all top-seeded teams except Grandview and Ralston Valley:
Cherokee Trail beat Boulder (61-16), Arapahoe won against Fossil Ridge (61-36), Valor Christian overcame Chatfield (85-46), Broomfield defeated Denver South (67-28), Northfield bested Smoky Hill (91-83), Denver East triumphed over Monarch (53-17), Highlands Ranch won against Poudre (66-40), Columbine beat ThunderRidge (55-41), Legend topped Vista PEAK Prep (67-30), Erie surpassed Rock Canyon (53-30), Regis Jesuit defeated Overland (68-48), Pine Creek overcame Horizon (58-32), Riverdale Ridge won against Chaparral (70-44). Arvada West narrowly beat Fruita Monument (46-43). Eaglecrest’s win over Ralston Valley was decided by Jones’ last-second shot; Fort Collins eliminated Grandview with a double-digit win.

First-round games were played on February 25 at higher-seeded schools, with ThunderRidge defeating Cherry Creek; Poudre beating Doherty; Monarch overcoming Vista Ridge; Smoky Hill winning against Fairview; Denver South defeating Pueblo West; Boulder topping Rocky Mountain; Fossil Ridge edging Mountain Vista; and Chatfield winning over Castle View.
