The victory is significant for Lutheran, marking another milestone in the school’s basketball history. The team finished the night with a strong overall performance, shooting 60 percent from the field and collecting more than half of their rebounds in the second half.
Kaden Tisdall led Lutheran with 16 points. He credited his coaches for helping him find confidence on the court and spoke about his connection with teammates. “This is the most I’ve ever been connected with the team ever, in any sport I’ve ever played,” he said. “We have meals together every week, we all hang out together, we are all just really connected.”
Coach Josh Abbott explained that defense has been a focus throughout the season. “We have three things we talk about every game,” he said. “It’s the three E’s — energy, effort and execution in defense and rebounding. We don’t talk about anything basketball-offense related. I trust these guys a lot.”
Lutheran ended with 25 rebounds, six steals, and three blocks. Kade Speckman recorded a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Silver Creek finished its season with a record of 23-5; Luke Schmeeckle led his team with eleven points.
The win adds to Lutheran’s record of success in boys basketball championships.
