The Colorado High School Activities Association held the 2026 Ice Hockey State Championships at the University of Denver’s Magness Arena on Monday. Pine Creek secured its first-ever state title in ice hockey after scoring three goals in the third period to defeat Steamboat Springs, who were last year’s champions, in the 4A final.
In the 5A championship game, Cherry Creek overcame Poudre School District with a score of 5-3. Matthew Lopez contributed a hat trick to help Cherry Creek earn its first hockey state title since 2015.
Pine Creek and Cherry Creek both achieved significant milestones by winning their respective divisions. The event concluded with updated brackets showing final scores for both the 4A and 5A competitions.
