The first round of the 2026 CHSAA 1A Boys State Basketball Tournament began Thursday at the Prairie regional site. All opening games are hosted by top-eight seeded teams. The remaining first-round contests and second-round games from this regional are scheduled for Friday.
Winners from Saturday’s matchups will move on to the Great 8, which is set to take place at the University of Northern Colorado’s Bank of Colorado Arena next Thursday.
Thursday’s results saw No. 6 Prairie defeat No. 27 Mile High Academy with a score of 60-11, while No. 11 Peetz overcame No. 22 Denver Academy of Torah, finishing 61-37.
Friday’s schedule includes several matchups: No. 1 McClave vs. No. 32 Arickaree, No. 2 Nucla vs. No. 31 Kit Carson, and other pairings involving Cheyenne Wells, Flatirons Academy, Stratton, Nucla (listed twice), Denver Waldorf, Elbert, Otis, Sierra Grande, Briggsdale, Sangre de Cristo, Denver Jewish Day, Wiley, De Beque, and Granada facing their respective opponents.
The second round will continue with No. 6 Prairie facing No. 11 Peetz on Friday as well.
Saturday’s fixtures will be determined following the outcome of Friday’s games.
