The Colorado High School Activities Association reported on Mar. 12 that the quarterfinals of the 2026 CHSAA 2A Boys and Girls Basketball State Tournaments were completed Thursday, despite a venue change caused by high winds.
The tournament began at Colorado State University’s Moby Arena in Fort Collins, but high winds forced the closure of the CSU campus. As a result, remaining games were moved to Longmont and Frederick High Schools. The tournament is scheduled to resume at Colorado State University on Friday.
In boys’ action, Guede Wade led No. 3 Heritage Christian with 19 points and 20 rebounds in a 55-50 win over No. 6 Byers. At Longmont, No. 2 Simla defeated No. 7 Vail Christian by a score of 68-42, while at Frederick, No. 5 Golden View Classical Academy narrowly beat No. 13 Plateau Valley, 49-47. In another close game, No. 9 Limon edged out No. 1 Sanford with a final score of 41-38.
On the girls’ side, Kandace Pargin scored 15 points and added seven rebounds and four assists as No. 4 Sargent topped No. 5 Sedgwick County in the first game of the day. At Longmont High School, top-seeded Merino defeated Akron (56-21), while at Frederick High School, Sanford beat Plateau Valley (35-24).
