City of Aurora issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.
Important reminders leading to Election Day
I had the honor of joining Gov. Polis, Secretary of State Griswold and other regional leaders Oct. 15 to speak about the safety and security of the upcoming election and the importance of reaching out to all our local communities to get out and vote. It was a great reminder of all the great work that’s been done to prepare for this vote, and of the many ways that Colorado is a leader in getting ballots in the hands of eligible voters and making it easy to let your voice be heard.
Election Day is right around the corner, Tuesday, Nov. 3. This week, all active registered votes should receive ballots in the mail. The counties started mailing the ballots Friday, Oct. 9.
Please check your voter registration at GoVoteColorado.com. Make sure that your residential address and your ballot mailing address are current. Ballots are not forwarded by the Postal Service, even if you have completed a Change of Address request with the Post Office after moving to a new home.
The deadline to register to vote or update your registration online or by mail and receive a ballot by mail is Monday, Oct. 26. After this date, you should visit a Voter Service and Polling Center to register to vote and request a ballot. Ballots may be returned by mail with paid postage or delivered to any one of the ballot drop-off locations in your county.
Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. Election Day Nov. 3 to be counted. If you prefer to handle things in person, please visit a Voter Service and Polling Center to register to vote, update your registration, replace or request a ballot (curbside pickup is available), or vote on an accessible voting machine. Phase 1 Voter Service and Polling Center will open Oct. 19 and Phase 2 centers open on Oct. 30. All Voter Service and Polling Centers will be open until 7 p.m. on Nov. 3.
Elections are coordinated at the county level, and the city of Aurora sits in three counties. For voter resources, visit your county's Elections Division: AdamsVotes.com, ArapahoeVotes.com or DouglasVotes.com.
Join second virtual meeting Oct. 21 for City Center study
The city of Aurora is hosting a second virtual public meeting related to its City Center Visioning Study from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, on Webex.
The first virtual meeting that took place in late summer provided information about development opportunities in the City Center area and allowed participants to share their vision for how City Center could grow and evolve in the coming years.
This second meeting will provide an update on the feedback and survey results from the first round of public input. Participants will have time to share additional thoughts on important topics facing City Center’s future, including transportation, public spaces, housing, employment, shopping, dining and identity for this important area.
Aurora’s City Center area—the area east of I-225 and flanking Alameda Parkway to the north and south—has seen significant investment in new shopping, services and restaurants in recent years. But there’s potentially much more to come, with much development interest in the area and opportunities for investment that could transform the area even further. To help shape and support this development interest, the city plans to create a vision and development framework for this area.

One Book Colorado: pick up your free copy at the library
It's time for One Book Colorado. This year's book is "The Little Red Fort" by Brenda Maier. Visit your Aurora Public Library to pick up a FREE copy for the 4-year-old in your life starting Oct. 13 through Oct. 25.
While supplies last, receive a fort building activity kit with your free copy of “The Little Red Fort” to draw a blueprint and build a fort, just like Ruby. City facilities closed Oct. 16 for furlough day
On Oct. 16, city employees will take a second furlough day to further compensate for shortfalls created by COVID-19. Most city facilities will be closed and city staff–except public safety and water treatment–will not report to work or receive pay.
No “Mayor Mike Live” this Friday, Oct. 16
Due to the scheduled furlough day for city of Aurora employees, we won’t have the “Mayor Mike Live’ Facebook and AuroraTV streaming this Friday, Oct. 16. We will resume next Friday, Oct. 23, with Aurora Police Chief Wilson joining me live at 3 p.m. to update us on her plans for the department and answer your questions.
