Free Christmas Tree and Light Recycling

Don't throw away your Christmas tree or string lights; give them another life by recycling! The City of Centennial, Arapahoe Park and Recreation District and South Suburban Parks and Recreation District are providing residents with an opportunity to appropriately and safely dispose of Christmas trees and unwanted string lights. Starting Monday, December 26 through Monday, January 16, 2023 you can dispose of clean, non-ornamented, non-decorated Christmas trees and string lights seven days a week from sunrise to sunset at the Centennial locations listed below. Lights must be removed from trees and wreaths to recycle and artificial trees will not be accepted.

Unwanted string lights may be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Lookout Park, 5455 S. Riviera Way
  • Piney Creek Hollow Park, 6140 S. Tower Road
  • Centennial Civic Center, 13133 E. Arapahoe Road
  • City’s Eagle Street Facility, 7272 S. Eagle Street
East Side Tree Recycling:

  • Lookout Park, 5455 S. Riviera Way
  • Piney Creek Hollow Park, 6140 S. Tower Road
It is anticipated free mulch will be available for private use, on a first come first serve basis, at Lookout Park starting Wednesday, December 28 and every other day after that, excluding holidays, weekends and snow events.

West Side Residents for Tree Recycling NO STRING LIGHTS

  • Willow Spring Service Center, 7100 S. Holly St, in the designated enclosure by the front gate.
Residents may obtain free mulch, on a first come first serve basis,  from the Willow Springs Service Center, beginning Wednesday, December 28. The mulch will be available weekdays, 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Residents are responsible for loading and are encouraged to bring bags or trash cans and a shovel or pitchfork.
