Summit High School secured both the boys and girls team titles at the Colorado High School Activities Association’s Alpine Skiing State Championships, held Wednesday and Thursday at Vail Ski Resort.
In individual competition, Seth Montgomery of Summit repeated as champion in both the boys giant slalom and slalom events. This marks the third consecutive year that Montgomery has won both races, bringing his total to six individual state titles. On the girls side, Battle Mountain’s Eden DeMino took first place in the slalom on Thursday, while Malie Dieterich led Summit to a sweep of the top four spots in Wednesday’s giant slalom.
The event also highlighted a recent change: starting in 2025, Alpine and Nordic skiing have been separated into different championships. The upcoming 2026 Nordic Skiing State Championships are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Snow Mountain Range near Granby.
Team standings showed Summit leading in both categories. For the girls, Summit finished with 347 points, ahead of Battle Mountain (316) and Aspen (313). In the boys division, Summit posted 319 points, followed by Steamboat Springs (315) and Middle Park (309).
Individual champions included Malie Dieterich of Summit in the girls giant slalom, Eden DeMino of Battle Mountain in the girls slalom, and Seth Montgomery of Summit in both boys events.
A digital state championship program was made available for those seeking further details on team standings and results.
