Aurora Mobile Food Pantry Lifted Up Community in its Time of Need
I am happy to report that the Aurora Mobile Food Pantry—which ran from late May through August—provided more than $1 million in resources to Aurorans, including 7,950 households and 30,200 individuals. During that time, we distributed 476,000 meals, 434,000 pounds of food, 37,225 pounds of pet food, $47,000 worth of baby items and 2,800 books.
The city of Aurora thanks our 761 volunteers and these partners who made it possible: Aurora Interfaith Community Services, Tri-County Health Department's Food in Communities, Food Bank of the Rockies, Colorado Pet Pantry, We Don't Waste, Town Center at Aurora and the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation.
Take Advantage of Commitment to Care Starting This Month
As I mentioned last week, we are excited to bring the new Commitment to Care initiative to the community following the success of the Aurora Mobile Food Pantry. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, this new partnership between the city of Aurora and local nonprofit organizations will provide food and resources to residents in need through the end of the year.
The $800,000 initiative, funded through Arapahoe County CARES dollars, is composed of seven food access programs that welcome all Aurora community members. There is no cost for food or resources. Additional details and ways to donate are available at AuroraGov.org/CommitmentToCare.
If you are looking for a way to give back, this initiative can use your help. From sorting and bagging groceries, to distributing food at events throughout the community, volunteers provide a wide range of much-needed support. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old with parental/guardian consent for those younger than age 18. Group volunteer opportunities are also available. •Aurora Day of Giving
Food, baby supplies and pet food will be available (drive-through pickup only) for up to 1,500 families starting at 10 a.m. until supplies are exhausted on the following dates and locations: Sept. 26, Gateway High School, 1300 S. Sable Boulevard; Oct. 24, Overland High School, 12400 E. Jewell Ave.; and Nov. 21 and Dec. 19, Town Center at Aurora, 14200 E. •Neighbor to Neighbor at Dayton Street Opportunity Center
Food and community resources will be distributed via curbside pickup and delivery through the end of the year to local families and people experiencing homelessness through December at the Dayton Street Opportunity Center, 1445 Dayton St. To volunteer, call 720.593.1560 or email opportunitycenter1445@gmail.com.
•Immigrant & Refugee Food Pantry at Village Exchange
Culturally relevant foods, baby items and community resources will be available to immigrants and refugees via delivery or curbside pickup at the Village Exchange Center, 1609 Havana St., through the end of the year. •Food for Thought with SECORCares

•One Place Project hosted by the District Attorney's Office, 18th Judicial District
Twice a month through the end of the year, drive-through distribution of food and resources at Restoration Christian Fellowship, 15640 E. Sixth Ave., will be available to victims of crime. For the schedule and more information, call 720.874.8618 or email oneplace@da18.state.co.us.
•Senior Mobile Pop-Up Pantry Hosted by SECORCares

•Home for the Holidays with The Salvation Army
Families will be provided with a gift card in December at The Salvation Army, 802 Quari St., to purchase food, hygiene products and other household items distributed in conjunction with The Salvation Army’s annual gift-giving campaign.
