The city of Aurora is offering residents and library patrons an opportunity to share what they want to see and experience in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library on East Colfax Avenue.

The city is preparing to remodel the library at 9898 E. Colfax Ave. to activate the building’s second floor, enhance the children’s library, and provide welcoming and inviting spaces for residents of all ages to engage in a variety of activities.

The $2.5 million federally funded remodel is intended to create better library space for residents and create a place for community and connection on Colfax.

Residents and library patrons are encouraged to take a short survey available online at EngageAurora.org/MLKRemodel through June 13. Survey translation on the webpage is available in numerous languages by clicking on the Select Language button on the top left corner of the page. Paper copies of the survey in multiple languages are also available at the library.

Two community open houses will provide residents and library patrons with a chance to share feedback through interactive activities. Children are welcome.

Attendees may stop by the library anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, or from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3.

A Spanish interpreter will be available at the June 1 open house. Additional language interpretation support will be offered through other means as well at both open houses.
