WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), Army combat veteran who has served on the House Armed Services Committee, released this statement after voting against the House Republicans’ extreme and partisan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024, historically bipartisan legislation to support our troops and bolster America’s defenses.

In a statement, Congressman Crow said:

“I’ve spent my adult life defending our nation and learned our values and national security go hand-in-hand.

“Every year, I’ve negotiated a bipartisan defense bill that protects our nation and supports our troops. Republicans chose a different path with an extreme measure to restrict abortion access for our troops, which I cannot support.

“Instead of addressing recruitment and retention challenges, they’re actively pushing partisan measures that will deter the best and brightest from joining our Armed Forces.

“Instead of addressing climate change, they’re ignoring science and threatening military readiness, our economy, and way of life.

“For the first time, I voted against the NDAA.”

After the Supreme Court’s dangerous decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health, Congressman Crow has continued to lead efforts to protect servicemembers’ fundamental rights. Crow’s efforts include successfully urging the Department of Defense to protect access to reproductive health care, and introducing legislation to expand leave policy across military branches for service members seeking abortion care.
