Rep. Jason Crow, a U.S. Congressman representing Colorado’s 6th district since 2019, has expressed his concerns over recent budget cuts proposed by President Trump through a series of tweets. The tweets highlight potential negative impacts on health research and public safety services.
On February 16, 2025, Crow tweeted about the adverse effects of cutting federal grants to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He stated that "Cutting research to cure cancer & Alzheimer’s is not the approach." He warned that such cuts could result in job losses for thousands of medical researchers and negatively impact Colorado's economy.
The following day, on February 17, Crow reiterated his stance against the cuts in another tweet: "Americans are going to die because of Trump’s cuts to the National Institutes of Health research." He argued that while government reform and efficiency improvements are necessary, reducing funding for critical health research is not an appropriate solution.
In a tweet dated February 18, Crow criticized President Trump's decision to fire thousands of U.S. Forest Service employees. He cautioned that "Firing thousands of U.S. Forest Service employees... makes Coloradans less safe." This action could lead to increased wildfires, restricted trail access, and diminished emergency services in backcountry areas.
